What to Do When Your Pipes Burst

Here’s what to do while we move quickly to get to your home: 

  • Shut off the main water supply. Locate your home’s main shut-off valve, often in your basement, crawlspace, or near the water meter outside. Turning this off will stop the flow of water and reduce the flooding.
  • Turn off the electricity if water is spreading. If water has reached your outlets, appliances, or your electrical panel, shut off the power at the breaker to stay safe.
  • Open faucets to drain remaining water. Turning on the faucets will relieve pressure in your piping and help excess water escape safely.
  • Move valuables and furniture. If it's safe to do so, move items away from the flooded area to protect your floors and belongings.
